McKim & Creed became a RIEGL Mobile LiDAR user recently with the acquisition of their new RIEGL VMX-2HA Mobile Mapping System. As an engineering, surveying, and planning firm with offices throughout the U.S., McKim & Creed strives to continually provide the best in mobile mapping solutions to their clients. Utilizing RIEGL’s VMX-2HA, they are better positioned to offer clients high-accuracy data with reduced time on the road for their mobile LiDAR team. Although RIEGL is new to McKim & Creed, their recently assembled expert LiDAR team has worked with RIEGL products for more than 12 years, including RIEGL’s mobile, static, and aerial sensors.
“We are very excited to be able to bring McKim & Creed into the RIEGL family.” Said Tanner Dutton, RIEGL USA Customer Success Manager. “We know a group with their pedigree and experience paired with great equipment like the VMX-2HA can only lead to great success!”
WHAT LED MCKIM & CREED TO THE RIEGL VMX-2HA?
McKim & Creed geospatial experts Sarah Stillman and Trevor Tyson have extensive experience with RIEGL’s VMX systems. When researching options to provide their clients with the best and most accurate mapping solutions, their team landed on the RIEGL VMX-2HA. The VMX-2HA provides dual-head scanning that allows for denser point clouds with more coverage and less chance for gaps in data.
“The 2HA computer system cuts the download time by 75 percent of what we were experiencing with the older LiDAR systems,” Tyson said. “Our crews will be spending less time in the mobile LiDAR vehicle and more time able to focus on other tasks.”

IMPACT THE SYSTEM HAS FOR MCKIM & CREED WORKFLOWS & GROWTH
Already a leading geospatial firm in the region, McKim & Creed’s mobile mapping team combined with the RIEGL VMX-2HA system, will be able to produce some of the densest and most data-rich mobile mapping products. McKim & Creed’s cloud-processing workflows, size, and team capacity (data acquisition and extraction) enable the firm to handle large projects without sacrificing quality. Many Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) districts recognize this team as one of the fastest-growing groups within the state.
“RIEGL has been an integral part of growing and specializing our geospatial careers,” Stillman said. “Throughout the years, Trevor and I have had opportunities to work with other sensors companies, and none have compared to the relationship, technology, and support we’ve known with RIEGL.”
About the RIEGL VMX-2HA Mobile Mapping System
