RIEGL VZ-2000i scan project: dam and reservoir EL YESO – METROPOLITAN REGION, CHILE

In February 2022, the Geocom team was able to carry out an interesting LiDAR survey project in the municipality of San José de Maipo together with Claudio Avello, RIEGL Regional Manager for LATAM. The area around the El Yeso dam (built in 1964 at an altitude of 2,500 meters in the Andes and still the main water reservoir for the city of Santiago de Chile) was surveyed.

In this video we show the workflow and first results of data acquisition using the RIEGL VZ-2000i 3D terrestrial laser scanner, which had no problems with measuring ranges of up to 2.3 kilometers during acquisition.
