GeoConnexion featured an article on the Beacons of the Past (BotP) project. To shed light on the hidden landscapes of the Chiltern Hills in Southern Britain, BotP was initiated by the Chilterns Conservation Board (CCB) and has been investigating the archeology of the Chiltern Hills to unveil the history of this landscape. A bespoke LiDAR dataset was seen as a benefit to enrich understanding of the Chiltern Hills, and through funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and other partners, the UK’s largest bespoke high-resolution archaeological LiDAR survey was commissioned and undertaken between December 2018 and April 2019. This successful survey utilized a RIEGL LMS-Q1560 LiDAR sensor.
