LiDAR Helps Reveal Lost Roman Road

Analysis of LiDAR and aerial photography, conducted by Historic England for the Secrets of the High Woods Project and commissioned from Fugro BV, has led to the rediscovery of a long-speculated route from Roman times between Chichester and Arundel in England.

The LIDAR system used to accomplish this mission was the Litemapper 6800 system, which includes a RIEGL LMS-Q680i long-range airborne laser scanner.

The discovery of this road is important, putting into context the Roman-era sites along its route.
