Riegl Celebrates the 75th anniversary of ASPRS

In 1934, a group of men led by Col. Claude Birdseye met in Washington D.B. to discuss forming a photogrammetric society in the United States. The society evolved and in the late 1980s the Board of Directors voted to change the name of the organization to The American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing. Thus, ASPRS was born. March 9th-13th ASPRS celebrated its 75th anniversary in Baltimore, MD. Riegl USA was there to participate in the festivities.

In fact, we were so involved in the festivities that our Sales Manager, Erik Anderson, only managed to snap this one photo with his blackberry.

Fourteen workshops were offered at this conference ranging from “Remote Sensing of Vegetation”,”A DIY Approach to Lidar and Imagery Processing and Analysis Using Open Source Tools” to “Marketing Your Business”. More than 400 people attended the ASPRS 75th Anniversary Conference and sponsors lined every inch of the exhibit hall.

On Thursday night, a celebratory dinner was held at the Marriott Waterfront hotel; Capitol Steps performed a side-splitting comedy routine.

An exceptional conference with a pleasant combination of education and entertainment. We’ve already signed up for next year!
