A 10-year scanning study deep in the Austrian Alps has much to say about climate

xyHt Magazine featured an article that highlights a 10-year scanning study deep in the Austrian Alps started by Professor Manfred F. Buchroithner, Institute of Cartography, Technical University Dresden. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect that climate has on Austrian glaciers, ultimately affecting ice caves.
In 2017, 2019 and 2020, RIEGL contributed to the study as areal and mass-related comparisons of the ice cover were carried out using a RIEGL VZ-400i and the data was processed using RIEGL’s RiScan Pro. Throughout the article, the scientific white paper written by Professor Manfred F. Buchroithner, and Thomas Gaisecker, RIEGL Laser Measurement Systems GmBH is referenced and further explains this study and RIEGL’s contributions to it.
